Love Rosie Interview Series - Kylie Aleman

For our readers, can you please give some insight as to who you are and what you do?

I’m Kylie and I’m the sister behind Shabby Sisters, an online women’s fashion boutique. When I don’t have my Shabby hat on, I am Mum to two boys, a moddle and wife to a pom who I bought back from the UK as a little excess baggage many years ago.

What is your favourite part of being a mum?

Watching them grow into their skin and find out who they are in the world and where they fit.  It’s quite incredible when you start to see their individual personalities and beliefs start to form.
And those morning hugs, they are the best way to start the day.

What is the best parenting advice you’ve received?

Just love them and everything else will be ok.
And when things are tough, and I feel like I am failing as a mum (and wife) I try and remember that they are all loved, they are all safe, I am doing my best and this too shall pass.

Kids are always a huge motivation in life, aside from your child/children what has been your biggest motivation to achieve success?

I would be completely lying if I didn’t say there is a financial motivation to succeed because unfortunately there are always bills to pay.  But personally, it’s being able to look back, without regrets, and knowing I gave it a go.  We are all capable of achieving so much more than we believe we can, so I want to walk down that path a little (actually I want to run down the path) and see what I am capable of.

There is so much information out there about business, what are some points you live by with your brand?

Be authentic, be honest and have fun.

What practical tips could you give to our Mums out there who are thinking of turning a passion into a plan?

Just give it a go!  And be resilient! There will be tough days, there will be days where you want to throw in the towel but remember why you started, and that tomorrow is a brand new day.

What is the most rewarding thing for you in what you do?

When we receive emails or DMs from customers telling us how much they love their pieces – that is the most rewarding!  Not only because they love it, but because they love it enough to take the time to tell us.  Everyone is so busy these days so for someone to take precious time out of their day and say thank you, that makes it all worth it!

For our readers, where is the best places they can go to find you and find out more?
