Love Rosie Interview Series - Jules Coffey

For our readers, can you please give some insight as to who you are and what you do?

My name is Jules Coffey and I live in Newcastle with my husband and two little girls. I am a birth Doula but I also love to sharing my journey through my Instagram feed. I started my instagram when I was pregnant with my daughter as I found all the online forums online outdated. I was after reassurance and wanting to share my day to day ups and downs with like minded other mothers. I became a Doula last year after wanting to have a more informed birth second time around. I just love that I can now support woman and their partners on such a special day.

What is your favourite part of being a mum?

When the kids are asleep at night… ok ok jokes (but it’s up there let’s be honest). My favourite part of being a mum is the love that it has brought into my life. To watch these beautiful children learning new things each day and knowing the adoration they have for you is the best feeling in the world.

What is the best parenting advice you’ve received?

Just remember that tomorrow is a new day. What may work some days may not work on other days and you just have to do what works for you at the time. I think it’s really important to the take the pressure off yourself and trust your instincts. Being a parent was never going to be easy but it was always going to be worth it. So so worth it.

Kids are always a huge motivation in life, aside from your child/children what has been your biggest motivation to achieve success?

Lifestyle. My biggest motivation is for my family to have the best lifestyle possible. Free time spent with my children, being passionate about the job that I do and being able to build the home that we have always dreamed about.

There is so much information out there about business, what are some points you live by with your brand?

Always be yourself. Make sure you are passionate about your message and market yourself well. Whatever your product or service is you need to really believe in it. Follow up with clients/customers and really take on board any feedback you receive.

What practical tips could you give to our Mums out there who are thinking of turning a passion into a plan?

DO IT. It’s so important to still be YOU and if you are happy then that will radiate through to your home life. There is never going to be a right time to start something new but even if you can set aside an hour each night before bed to put some energy into it. Setting up a business requires a lot of time and effort but to be able to work for yourself doing something you truly believe in is well worth it.

What is the most rewarding thing for you in what you do?

Being a birth doula is the most rewarding job. I absolutely love seeing woman having a calm and positive birth experience. You can never predict how a birth will go but with the right support and nurturing it can make all the difference. I also love sharing my journey with others on instagram as it makes me realise that I am never alone in my struggles on the hard days. It’s a great way to connect with others, give and receive advice and often an outlet to have a laugh in the shitty moments.

For our readers, where is the best places they can go to find you and find out more?
