Love Rosie Interview Series - Rachael Finch

For our readers, can you please give some insight as to who you are and what you do?

First and most importantly I am Mama to Violet 5, and Dominic 1. I grew up in Townsville, North Queensland and started playing sport from a very young age – Mum says she can remember me running down the athletics track with nappies on! My goal was to compete at the Olympics for long jump and so my mind and body were set on that. When I was 16 I was approached in the airport by a man asking to enter his local modelling competition – I decided to try something different and was actually lucky enough to win. From there my life took a turn and before I knew it I was working around the world as a model, before coming back to Australia to be close to family. I signed with the Channel 7 Network and expanded on my love of health & wellness by studying Health Coaching and Personal Training. I wrote a book titled ‘Happy Healthy Strong’, have launched an activewear label B.O.D by Finch and most recently put all of my lessons & passions into one place – my online program www.bodybyfinch.com.

What is your favourite part of being a mum?

Cuddles in bed, bath time and seeing their face when they experience something for the first time.

What is the best parenting advice you’ve received?

Always trust your instinct and do what works for your own family. You can receive a thousand pieces of advice but at the end of the day you know your family best.

Kids are always a huge motivation in life, aside from your child/children what has been your biggest motivation to achieve success?

For me a successful business is one that can positively impact the life of another person time and time again. There’s an incredibly rewarding feeling in helping someone to feel better about themselves, knowing that you’re giving back in some way.

There is so much information out there about business, what are some points you live by with your brand?

Customer service should be a top priority every day. We spend a lot of our time getting back to people as quickly as possible with an outcome, or simply a reply. Even if we don’t have the solution right away, I think people appreciate the acknowledgement that their enquiry has been received.

Kindness goes a long way. Being able to give back through your business by aligning with a charity or giving away products or services for free, will not only help your business grow but build on its reputation. I truly believe that goodness comes back to those that give it.

The people within your business make your brand. Ultimately it’s their decisions, values & creative juices that are being injected day to day. Invest the time in choosing your team and contractors wisely.

What practical tips could you give to our Mums out there who are thinking of turning a passion into a plan?

Start out slow and always think long term. You don’t need a gang buster website straight away. Do as much as you can by yourself before you start clocking up expenses with employing other people. Once revenue starts coming in then you can start investing more.

Always do your research and keep evolving. As the world changes so too will your product or service. Always stay on top of what your competitors are doing and invest the time to research your product well.

For 100 No’s you’ll get 1 yes. Don’t give up. If you believe in your product and your own ability that’s what matters most. If I had $1 for every ‘no’ I’ve received I’d be pretty rich right now.

What is the most rewarding thing for you in what you do?

When someone shares a transformation that has taken place in their life because of something I shared or the results they’ve got from my program, that sends shivers down my spine. I get to read some very special messages from women and that makes me feel so complete.

For our readers, where is the best places they can go to find you and find out more?
